Local enterprises exemplify philanthropy and resilience in Northern Utah |
Cache Valley is home to businesses that not only thrive economically but also deeply invest in their communities.
Minky Couture, founded by Sandi Hendry in 2009, has grown from a single blanket to a renowned brand with seven retail locations across Utah.
In October 2024, the company partnered with the American Red Cross to donate 6,000 blankets to those affected by Hurricane Helene, demonstrating a commitment to providing warmth and comfort to those in need.
Additionally, Minky Couture's "Heart of Minky" program donates thousands of mini blankets to NICUs nationwide, offering solace to premature infants and their families.
During the 2024 holiday season, Minky Couture experienced unprecedented growth, shipping between 500,000 and 750,000 blankets over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend.
This surge underscores the company's expanding reach and the increasing demand for its luxurious products.
In April 2025, Minky Couture was recognized as a finalist for the Large Business of the Year by the Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce, highlighting its significant impact on the local economy and community.
Another Cache Valley business making a difference is Saranoni.
In May 2023, the company donated $100,000 worth of luxury blankets to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City.
This act of generosity was initiated by founders Nathan and Emily Peterson as part of the "Saranoni Cares" program.
Tragically, Nathan was diagnosed with Glioblastoma shortly after the program's inception and passed away in January 2022.
Emily and the Saranoni team have continued this mission, honoring Nathan's memory by providing comfort to cancer patients.
These stories exemplify the spirit of Cache Valley businesses, where success is measured not only by financial growth but also by the positive impact on the community.
Through philanthropy and resilience, companies like Minky Couture and Saranoni set a standard for corporate responsibility and community engagement in Northern Utah. |
