Hyrum Entrepreneur Constructs Unique 7,200-Square-Foot Vacation Rental in Fish Haven |
In the heart of Cache Valley's evolving real estate landscape, a remarkable project has emerged near Bear Lake in Fish Haven, Idaho.
Michael Arambel, a businessman from Hyrum, has transformed seven 40-foot shipping containers into a luxurious 7,200-square-foot vacation rental.
This innovative home boasts six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, comfortably accommodating 21 guests, with additional space available if needed.
Perched on a bluff just over two miles from U.S. 89 and half a mile from Fish Haven, the property offers an unobstructed, million-dollar view of Bear Lake.
Arambel's journey to create this unique retreat spanned two and a half years.
After exploring numerous properties with Realtor Natalie Jacobsen from Bear Lake Getaway Realty, he secured a ten-acre lot.
To ensure structural integrity, especially against heavy winter snow, he enlisted structural engineer Curtis Earl.
The original architectural plans were crafted by Christian Wilson of Center Street Architect.
However, to bring the project to fruition, Arambel collaborated with architectural designer Kristy Jacobson from K Design Studio.
"Kristy and I met on-site, and I expressed my desire to build something truly remarkable," Arambel shared.
"Her creativity brought the vision to life in ways I hadn't imagined."
The construction process was extensive, involving the removal of 50 feet of hillside dirt and extending 165 feet to accommodate the building's length.
Initially, the use of shipping containers raised eyebrows among locals.
"When people saw the containers being delivered, there was skepticism about how it would fit with the other large cabins in Fish Haven," Arambel noted.
"However, once completed, many were impressed by the final result."
The home offers more than just a place to stay; it's designed to host meetings, small weddings, or retreats.
Some container doors were intentionally left visible as a nod to the building process.
One container has been transformed into a game room, featuring an air hockey table, wall-mounted video game, and a double-shot basketball arcade game.
Heated floors ensure comfort during winter months.
Innovative design elements include hallways with motion-activated lighting and walls with hidden doors that, when pushed, reveal bedrooms, a garage, or other rooms.
For those interested in experiencing this unique property, bookings are limited to three consecutive days and require confirmation from the property owner.

This project exemplifies the evolving nature of Cache Valley real estate, blending innovation with the region's natural beauty.
As the market continues to grow, such unique developments contribute to the area's appeal for both residents and visitors. |
