Utah's Top Recreation Spot? Logan's Already Won 2025! |
Logan just pulled a fast one on the rest of the state. You know how everyone's always complaining there's nothing to do? Well, Logan just dropped the mic with the Carol and Jim Laub Plaza, officially crowned Utah's "Outstanding Recreation Facility of the Year" for 2025. Yeah, you heard that right, 2025! They're so good, they're winning awards a year in advance. It's like predicting the next viral TikTok dance – these guys are trendsetters. So, what's the big deal? Imagine a spot where you can roast marshmallows by a fire pit one minute, challenge your buddy to a life-or-death chess match (okay, maybe not life-or-death, but still), and then cool off in a splash pad. And when winter rolls around? Boom! Ice rink. It's like they crammed every fun activity into one glorious downtown space. Mayor Holly Daines had a vision, and she went full HGTV on Logan, transforming an old Emporium building into this wonderland. Most people think revitalizing a downtown is all about fancy restaurants and overpriced boutiques. But Logan went straight for the heart – the community. They built a place where families can actually hang out, where kids can burn off energy, and where adults can feel like kids again. And get this, it wasn't just taxpayer money. The Laub Family Foundation, the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, and even Peter and Holly Daines themselves chipped in. |
Aggies Go Dancing: USU's March Madness Journey Begins! |
The Utah State Aggies are going dancing! For the second year running, our boys have snagged an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Another year, another first-round exit?" But hold your horses, because this year feels different. Picture this: It's Selection Sunday, and the tension is thicker than a Utah fog. The Aggies are huddled together, eyes glued to the screen, and BAM! There it is – Utah State, a No. 10 seed in the Midwest Region, set to face off against the UCLA Bruins. The room erupts. Pure, unadulterated joy. As Aggie guard Ian Martinez put it, "I was getting a little nervous as it was taking too long." Can you blame him? Now, here's where it gets interesting. Most people see UCLA, a team dripping with history and championships, and think, "Tough draw." But actually, this is the perfect stage for the Aggies to prove their mettle. They're not just playing a basketball game; they're stepping into a legendary arena, Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, against one of college basketball's blue bloods. This isn't just about winning; it's about making a statement. Coach Jerrod Calhoun said it best: "We are playing probably the most storied basketball program in the history of college basketball in one of the most historic venues in Rupp Arena. This will be a pretty neat experience for our group. We are excited." This isn't Calhoun's first rodeo, but it *is* his first NCAA Tournament at the Division I level as a head coach. Talk about a trial by fire! And let's not forget the Mountain West Conference is making its presence known. Four teams, including USU, are heading to the Big Dance. San Diego State, New Mexico, and Colorado State are all ready to rumble. It's a testament to the strength and competitiveness of the conference. This is USU's 25th NCAA Tournament appearance, and their recent history is impressive, making it six out of the last seven years that the Aggies have made it to the tournament. Last year, they snapped a two-decade-long winless streak in the tournament. Can they repeat that success and maybe even go further? The stage is set, the players are ready, and the fans are buzzing. Are you ready to witness the Aggies shock the world? |
