Fore! Volunteers Needed for Golf Ball Recovery Mission

Alright, Cache Valley, let's talk about something you probably never thought you'd see in the newsletter: a call to arms... for golf balls.

Yeah, you heard me right.

The Logan Parks & Recreation Department is putting out an APB for volunteers to help wrangle those little dimpled spheres at the Logan River Golf Course.

Think of it as a treasure hunt, but instead of gold doubloons, you're finding Titleists.

The Logan River Golf Course has a driving range, and driving ranges, as you might imagine, tend to accumulate a lot of golf balls.

They've got a fancy-schmancy mechanical picker that gobbles up the balls on the surface, but it's about as effective as a screen door on a submarine when it comes to the fringes.

That's where you, the intrepid volunteer, come in.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why should I spend my precious Monday morning picking up golf balls?"

And that's a fair question.

Most people think golf is just for retirees in plaid pants, but actually, this is a chance to give back to the community, get some fresh air, and maybe even find a lucky golf ball that'll shave strokes off your game.

Plus, they're bribing you with prize drawings.

I mean, who can say no to prizes?

The Great Logan Golf Ball Roundup is happening on Monday, March 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Just mosey on over to the golf ball dispenser at the driving range, and you'll be put to work.

Pro tip from the course pro, Jeff John: wear rain boots.

Because nothing says "dedicated volunteer" like soggy socks.

For more info, hit up Jeff at 435-716-9275 or shoot him an email at jeff.john@loganutah.gov.

My daughter’s bathroom drain is totally clogged! 😩

We ordered this tool from Amazon and it’s on the way—has anyone used it before?

Did it work for you?

From Seeds to Swingsets: Your Guide to the Cache Valley Home & Garden Show

This ain't your grandma's flower show. This is Cache Valley Media Group throwing down the gauntlet, inviting everyone from the greenest of thumbs to the blackest of thumbs (we all start somewhere, right?) to the George S. Eccles Ice Center.

Yes, the ice center. Talk about a cool venue for some hot gardening tips!

March 21st and 22nd, mark it in your calendars.

Friday, doors swing open at 10 a.m. and shut at 7 p.m.

Saturday, you early birds can get in at 9 a.m., and the whole shebang wraps up at 6 p.m.

Anderson's Seed and Garden, the MVPs of Northern Utah's home and garden scene, are presenting this spectacle. And trust me, "spectacle" is the right word.

Greg Roper, the main man from Cache Valley Media Group, tells me they're "pretty much full" and expecting a crowd bigger than ever.

Now, most people think home and garden shows are just a bunch of booths selling overpriced gnomes and questionable fertilizer.

But actually, the real gold is in the connections.

Over 100 vendors packed into one ice center, ready to spill their secrets on everything from landscape design to the perfect petunias.

And it's not just about buying stuff.

Remember those home improvement classes you always meant to take?

They're back!

Planting, pruning, sprinkler systems, even pet health – it's like a crash course in turning your humble abode into a Pinterest-worthy paradise.

Check out cachevalleyhomeandgardenshow.com for the class schedule.

Knowledge is power, people, and power is a perfectly manicured lawn.

Plus, let's not forget the fun factor.

Food vendors, treats for the kiddos, a United Way kids' play space, and Checkett's Amusements with bounce houses.

It's a family affair, a community shindig, and a chance to snag some freebies from vendors who are practically throwing them at you.

Roper himself says it's "the best place to see the newest trends in home and yard décor for Northern Utah."

And with vendors covering everything from landscape companies to roofing companies, he's not kidding.

They've crammed as much as humanly possible into that ice center, but fear not, there's still "plenty of space to walk through and talk to the venders."
