Cache County's Top Dog: Meet K-9 Beny |
Alright, Cache Valley, let's talk about something that's both adorable and seriously effective: Cache County's brand-spankin' new K-9 unit member, Beny. Forget the doom and gloom for a minute; this is a story about a good boy doing good work. So, picture this: Deputy Justin Odowd gets paired with Beny, a Belgian Malinois German Shepherd mix (basically, a canine superhero in disguise), and they hit the ground running. Six weeks of training, boom, they're a certified crime-fighting duo since February 21st. It's like watching a buddy cop movie, but with more fur and fewer explosions (probably). Beny isn't just some cuddly companion. This dog is trained in both apprehension and narcotics detection. He's got the brains and the brawn, sniffing out trouble and chasing down the bad guys. It's like having a four-legged Swiss Army knife on the police force. Deputy Odowd says it's been stressful but rewarding. "He's got a lot of drive, so he keeps me busy," he admits. And get this – Beny lives with Odowd and his family. So, even at home, it's obedience practice and general dog care. Talk about a 24/7 job! But Odowd wouldn't have it any other way, calling it the "most rewarding thing" he's done in the office. "I don’t think people realize police dogs aren’t necessarily vicious or aggressive," Odowd explains. "They are smart, and the work is like a game to them." It's all about mindset. When Beny's working, he's all business. But when that collar comes off at home, he's just a happy, tail-wagging pet. Beny is more than just a dog; he's a partner, a tool, and a member of the community. He's helping keep Cache County safe, one sniff and one chase at a time. And that's something worth barking about. |

🧽 Microwave Your Sponge… and Your Lemon 🍋 |
To disinfect your kitchen sponge and make your microwave smell amazing, soak the sponge in water, squeeze half a lemon on it (or toss in a lemon wedge), then microwave it for 1–2 minutes. Why it works:
Just let it cool a bit before grabbing the sponge—it’ll be hot! |
See you around town! |
