Good news for nature lovers, dog walkers, bird watchers, and folks who just like the smell of sagebrush after a rain—Cache County’s locking down open space like it’s going out of style.
This time? A whopping 557 acres in Smithfield.
It’s the second major open-space buy in the last year, and it’s all about keeping our wide-open views… well, wide open.
So don’t expect condos or gas stations popping up here anytime soon. Just more room to roam, breathe, and maybe spot a deer or two.

Utah State University just teamed up with NASA (yes, that NASA) to test a hybrid rocket motor—and spoiler alert: it worked.
Think less backyard bottle rocket, more "we might be onto the next big thing in space travel."
The test was loud, powerful, and wildly successful.
And because this is Cache Valley, of course it involved engineering students doing things that make the rest of us feel like we maybe should’ve paid more attention in physics.
